Product
The EZ Snacker is a snack dispenser that attaches to a childs car seat or stroller. The dispenser would resemble a change dispenser like the ones used at busy convenience/grocery stores. Parents can load the dispenser with treats for their child, such as cereals, goldfish crackers, or pretzels, that will dispense small portions with the touch of a button! Each dispenser would come with a remote control that enables parents to control how much their child is eating as well as control the mess!
Idea Generation
As a mom I'm always looking for ways to make my life as a parent easier. I just recently purchased a new car and I have been trying deperately to keep it clean! Anyone with small children knows that this task is nearly impossible. While traveling, my kids like to enjoy snacks. My 19 month old daughter is contantly spilling her snacks all over my backseat and the floor! It creates an awful mess! I have been unable to find a way to eliminate this hassle. Also, this would eliminate me reaching back to hand them things while I'm driving.
Idea Screening
While screening this product, it would have to be decided whether it is even possible to make. There are tons of kids toys that are controlled with a remote so I believe that this product could easily be controlled with one too. Also, the mechanics would have to be determined so that they product actually works and doesn't break all the time.
Business Analysis
Obviously the target market would be parents with young children. The EZ Snacker would be sold at retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Babies R Us. It would need to be affordable since typically parents with young children are on a budget. The product should sell for $30 or less.
Development
The first step to developing this product would be finding safe materials to build it. Any product that is used around children should always be extremely safe. Next priority would be durability. Kids also tend to be rough with things so we wouldn't want for it to be easily broken. It would need to be made out of some type of strong thick plastic. The base should be easily filled and easily cleaned for convenience. The dispenser should also be easy to clean or wipe out. The door on the dispenser would have to be made with a light plastic and assembled so that it wouldn't fit tightly to protect childrens fingers from being pinched. The remote control can be small and should come with velcro attachments so that parents can stick it to their console or dashboard.
Test Marketing
The test market should be a large group of parents who are willing to test out the product.
Commercialization
The product should be made and sold by a big name company such as Fisher Price or Little Tykes. As mentioned above, the product would sell best at big retailers such as Walmart, Target, or Babies R Us.
